Koti Deepotsavam – The Festival of One Crore Lamps

Koti Deepotsavam, the grand festival of lights in Hyderabad, celebrates devotion and unity with the lighting of one crore lamps during the sacred month of Karthika Masam.
Koti Deepotsavam, also known as the Festival of One Crore Lamps, is one of the most divine and visually stunning celebrations in Hyderabad, Telangana. The word “Koti” means one crore (10 million) and “Deepotsavam” means the festival of lamps. Together, it represents the lighting of a crore diyas that illuminate hearts, homes, and the holy grounds of the event. Organized annually by Bhakti TV in collaboration with the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) and the Telangana government, this festival is held at NTR Stadium in Hyderabad during the auspicious Karthika Masam (October–November). The festival marks the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. Devotees from across India gather to participate, lighting lamps, singing bhajans, and offering prayers to Lord Shiva, Vishnu, and Goddess Parvati. The event also features spiritual discourses, cultural performances, and poojas that enhance the divine atmosphere. Lighting a lamp during Koti Deepotsavam is believed to bring prosperity, wisdom, and spiritual growth. As millions of diyas glow together, the sight becomes a symbol of collective faith and devotion, creating an unforgettable spiritual experience. In 2025, the Koti Deepotsavam is expected to take place in early to mid-November, aligning with the sacred days of Karthika Masam, soon after Diwali.
