India was re-elected unopposed for the 2026-2028 term to the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC). This marks India’s seventh tenure since its first election in 2006. Prime Minister Modi’s government emphasized India’s philosophy of वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम् — ‘The world is one family’ — as a guiding principle in global human rights diplomacy.
