Tamil Nadu Aerospace Defence Sector Soars with ₹23,000 Crore Investments

Tamil Nadu has secured ₹23,000 crore in investments for its Defence Industrial Corridor, positioning the state as a leading hub for aerospace and defence innovation in India.
On October 7, 2025, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin inaugurated AeroDefCon 2025, a conclave aimed at boosting the state's aerospace and defence sectors. The event highlighted the state's strategic initiatives, including the establishment of the ₹23,000 crore Defence Industrial Corridor, which is set to enhance the development of advanced unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems and integrate Tamil Nadu into global aerospace supply chains. Dr. T.R.B. Rajaa, Industries Minister, emphasized the importance of fostering micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and startups in this sector. He noted that the state's first aerospace and defence policy aims to promote inclusivity and innovation in technology and education, ensuring sustainable growth and self-reliance in defence manufacturing. The conclave also featured discussions on the role of Tamil Nadu in India's broader aerospace and defence strategy, with a focus on advanced research, manufacturing capabilities, and the potential for international collaborations.
